Internetworking
- Internetworking is a combination of 2 words (inter and networking) which implies an association between different nodes or segments.
- It is a way to connect different types of computer networking technology.
- Computer network term is used to describe two or more computers that are linked together.
- It is also term used by Cisco, any interconnection among or between public, private, commercial, industrial or government computer networks may also define as Internetworking.
Types of Internetworking
- Extranet
- It is limited in scope to a single organization or entity but it has limited connections to the networks of one or more other usually, but not necessarily trust organizations or entities
- Intranet
- It uses IP-based tools such as Web Browsers and ftp tools that is under the control of a single administrative entity.
- Internet
- Consisting of a Worldwide interconnection of governmental, academic, public and private networks based upon the ARPANET developed by DoD also home to the WWW
